SLR, in partnership with Worley, Murphy, Fisher German and Camargue, has been awarded the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and initial Development Consent Order (DCO) development contract for the H₂East Pipeline: Humber to Nottinghamshire pipeline project in the United Kingdom by Cadent Gas Ltd (Cadent).

Having previously delivered technical feasibility and pre-FEED services for the project, including strategic optioneering and early route development and optimisation, SLR will now provide planning, consenting and multi-disciplinary environmental assessment services to support the FEED phase and the initial DCO application process.

The H₂East Pipeline: Humber to Nottinghamshire project will construct new infrastructure to deliver low-carbon hydrogen across the Humber region, Yorkshire and the East Midlands. The pipeline will connect key industrial hubs and supply hydrogen to heavy industry, including steel, chemicals and power generation.

Once operational, the network is expected to enable up to 11 gigawatts of hydrogen production capacity, supporting significant emissions reductions and economic growth across the region, with operations targeted to commence in 2033.

"The expertise and commitment of partners like SLR have been instrumental in driving this project forward. Their support, from early feasibility and route development through to the complex environmental, planning and consenting work now underway, is helping turn our vision for a low-carbon hydrogen network into reality. Together, we’re laying the foundations for a cleaner, more resilient future for the East Midlands and the Humber, enabling industry to thrive while cutting emissions."

Adam Knight, Project Director, Cadent

“SLR is proud to have supported Cadent and other project partners over the past four years in progressing this landmark project into the FEED and initial DCO delivery phase, helping to accelerate the decarbonisation of heavy industry in the UK. This contract award, and the diversity of services SLR will deliver during this next phase of the project, reinforces our leadership in environmental and sustainability solutions for the UK’s energy and future fuels sectors.”

Rob Hounsome, SLR Executive Director - Europe, Middle East & Africa
