Shell/TEEPSA - Proposed Offshore Exploration Well Drilling in Block 5/6/7, South-West Coast, South Africa

Status

On 18 May 2026 the Petroleum Agency of South Africa authorised an amendment to transfer the environmental authorisation for the proposed exploration well drilling in Block 5/6/7 off the West Coast of South Africa issued on 17 April 2023 and amended on 20 February 2025 (reference number 12/3/224) (“the EA”) from TotalEnergies EP South Africa Block 567 (Pty) Ltd to Shell Exploration and Production South Africa B.V. (“Shell”) in accordance with the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 and regulation 29 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2014 (“the Decision”).
